THE GENESIS OF UPLINK

A three part article written by the Lead Developer of Uplink, talking about the early days of Uplink, how it all got started and what happened during development. Uplink was not developed in the same way as conventional games - all of the team members had other day jobs and were working on Uplink in their spare time. Uplink was not shipped in the same way as conventional games either - the team members had no production budget or advertising money. At times we were almost certain Uplink would never make it out into the open.
